The Variety of different flats environments makes Grand Bahama very special, from the Unique dark hard mud bottom, to course sand islands, muddy creeks, grass flats to the white sands of the ocean side. Each type of bottom structure in turn brings a different set of opportunities. The soft presentations and finesse needed for the ocean side flats, contrast to the concentration and teamwork need to catch the harder to see fish on the Northside.

Ocean side flats
The shorelines vary from shallow angle to deeper drop offers, great for the larger Bonefish and Permit that wander in and out with the tide. These fish are often more solitary and provide a hunting style of fishing that a fly rod was designed for.

North side outside flats
Variety of bottom also brings variety of fish and size. Often bonefish of the same size will stick together. Not so here, you may see a 1lb bonefish following a 10lb bonefish, sometime you will also see permit and bonefish together. You will be surprised at what might pop up or swim past.

NORTHSIDE MANGROVE SHORELINE
With larger tide phases we are often asked what is the best tide? The simple answer is, the best tide is when its sunny and a 10-15mph wind. Due to the topography of the island there is a 3hr tide difference between the North and the South of the island. The Northside, our main fishery also varies up to 2hrs depending on where you are fishing. This doesn't also factor wind direction or strength. The reality is there is always opportunities.

OUTSIDE KEYS
Most of our fishing is done from the boat with some wading opportunities. Depending on the tide phase and conditions we do do some wading, however we have found over the years that because of the size of the fishery and the areas to cover it is often better to remain more mobile to get the best results.
